TPWD Piney Woods Region Fishing Reports

* BOB SANDLIN
Water fairly clear; 85-92 degrees; 0.19' low. Black bass are good on Zell Pops and buzzbaits early, later switching to wacky rigged Senkos, Texas and Carolina rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs under the 21 and railroad bridges. White bass are good on slabs and Humdingers over humps and off points. Catfish are good on live bait and prepared bait.
* CADDO
Water off color; 85-92 degrees; 0.29' high. Black bass are good weightless Yum Dingers, chatterbaits and soft plastic frogs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around cypress trees. White bass are good in the river channel on minnows and Road Runners. Channel catfish are good on nightcrawlers. Bream are good on crickets and worms.

* CONROE
Water murky; 1.14' low. Black bass are good on pumpkinseed and watermelon red Carolina rigged soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on minnows and green striper jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and green tube jigs over brush piles. Catfish are good on stinkbait, nightcrawlers, and shrimp.
* FORK
Water lightly stained; 85-90 degrees; 0.09' high. Black bass are good early on LFT Frogs and Yellow Magics, later switching to Carolina rigs, spoons and Texas rigged 12" Power Worms. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around bridge columns and over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on prepared bait and nightcrawlers.
* HOUSTON COUNTY
Water clear; 90 degrees; 0.51' low. Black bass to 4 pounds are fair on crankbaits and June bug soft plastic worms near the subdivisions and on the south side of the lake near the dam in 10 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on live minnows over brush piles near the pump station and in coves near the dam in 20 feet. Bream are fair on live worms off piers and grass beds. Channel and blue catfish to 3 pounds are fair on trotlines baited with perch on the north side of the lake in 12 - 20 feet.
* LAKE O' THE PINES
Water stained; 85-91 degrees; 1.3' high. Black bass are excellent on topwaters early, later switching to shallow running crankbaits, Texas rigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs over brush piles. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers and cheesebait.
* LIVINGSTON
Water fairly clear; 86 degrees; 0.29' low. Black bass are good on soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on hellbenders, pet spoons, and Charlie slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

Water murky; 87 degrees; 3.10' low. Black bass are fair on minnows and watermelon soft plastic worms. White bass are fair on silver spoons and minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows over baited holes in 20 - 25 feet. Bream are fair on nightcrawlers. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait, cut bait, and liver.

Water murky; 85 degrees; 1.55' high. Black bass to 8 pounds are fair on redbug and plum soft plastic worms early and late, diving baits in the evenings, and on topwaters among schooling fish. Striped bass are fair on minnows and silver striper jigs. White bass are good on spoons. Crappie are slow to fair on minnows over brush in 20 - 25 feet. Bream are excellent on crickets and nightcrawlers off docks in 4 - 5 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait, stinkbait, livers, and hearts in 30 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
