IFA Redfish and Kayak Championship Tournament

Redfish anglers from Texas to North Carolina and surrounding regions will converge on Orange Beach, Ala., November 5-6 and November 12-13 for the championship tournaments of the IFA Redfish Tour Presented by Cabela's and the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing, the culminating events of the 2010 season. The event, hosted by Caribe Resort and Cobalt Restaurant in conjunction with the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission, will see anglers from six different divisions of the IFA's two tours competing for lucrative payouts and yearlong bragging rights.

During the 2010 IFA Redfish Tour championship, prizes will be awarded for a pair of tournaments-within-the-tournament. The Cabela's Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award, awarded to the division-winning team with the highest place of finish, and the "Ultra 6" award, a $5,000 cash prize awarded highest-finishing team that fished six or more regular-season events, add to the lucrative payout structure of the event. The "Ultra 6" Award is designed to reward the passions of teams across the region who capitalize on the bevy of lucrative, close-to-home tournament opportunities. Teams are automatically qualified to compete for the prize upon competing in its sixth event.

"We're excited to be taking our championship events back to Alabama's Gulf Coast this year," said IFA President, Jim Armstrong. "A lot of different factors must be taken into account when selecting a host site for high-profile events such as these, from accommodations to the quality of fishing and community support. The Orange Beach area of Alabama exceeds all of our expectations on all of these fronts and many more. We're expecting a great event and look forward to crowning our new champions."

The 2010 IFA Redfish Tour Championship Weekend's activities begin Thursday, November 4 with registration from 5-7 p.m. at Cobalt Restaurant (28099 Perdido Beach Blvd., Orange Beach, AL 36561). The Captain's Meeting will follow registration where check-in times will be assigned. Anglers will launch from Caribe Resort at safe light on both days of competition.

"Fishing is an integral part of the Alabama Coastal experience and bringing championship events for the IFA Redfish Tour and IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing back to Orange Beach is a sign that fishing in the area is as good as ever," said Michelle Russ, Sports and Events Sales Manager for the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission. "We're excited to once again be a part of crowning the champions from these two great tours and showing the competitors and spectators all of the beautiful resorts, beaches and waters that Orange Beach has to offer."

The 2010 IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing will begin its championship event on Thursday, November 11, with registration from 5-7 p.m. at Cobalt Restaurant with the captains meeting to follow at the same location where check-in times will be assigned for both competition days. Anglers will launch from the location of their choice on Saturday and Sunday with the weigh in staged at Caribe Resort.

In its inaugural season, the IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing continues to meet the needs of anglers from Texas to the Carolinas, most recently by announcing modifications to a pair of rules for its premier, kayak-only tournament series.

The IFA Redfish Tour and IFA Kayak Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing continue to draw redfish anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, offering anglers teams the opportunity to compete in six different divisions, each offering a three-event regular season. Low entry fees for the one-day, regular-season tournaments allows anglers to fish close to home and minimize expenses, while still being a part of a premier inshore, catch-and-release redfish tournament organization. Teams fishing any three of the IFA's 18 regular-season events are automatically qualified for a no-entry-fee championship event, pitting qualifiers from each of the six divisions for a combined $78,200 in payouts and prize packages, as well as a shot at the coveted Cabela's Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award for the six regular-season division winners.

New for 2010, IFA Redfish Tour anglers are increasing their winnings with the Cabela's Angler Cash award and the Angler's Advantage Award. The Angler's Advantage Award allows anglers to add $100 to their already-low entry fee for the chance at increased winnings. The optional program pays out 100 percent to those participating teams. The Cabela's Angler Cash award gives a $1,000 gift card to any team that wins a regular-season tournament while competing with a Cabela's patch on their clothing. For the no-entry-fee IFA Redfish Tour Championship, the qualified, winning team will receive a $2,500 Cabela's gift card. If the winners of an IFA Redfish Tour event are a registered and qualified Ranger Cup compliant team, then they will receive $2,000.
