Lineberger outfishes BFL field on Lake Murray

Boater Shane Lineberger of Lincolnton, S.C., caught four bass weighing 15 pounds, 13 ounces Saturday to win $4,695 in the BFL South Carolina Division tournament on Lake Murray.

Jeremiah Jensen of Columbia, S.C., caught five bass, 15-7, to earn $2,348 and second place in the Boater Division; in third was Maurice Freeze of Concord, N.C., five bass, 14-1, $1,565; fourth place belonged to Carlton Thompkins of Myrtle Beach, S.C., five bass, 13-13, $1,096; and tied for fifth were Scott Hamrick of Denver, N.C., and Jeremy Talbert of Albemarle, N.C., each with five bass,12-3, $900.

Rounding out the top 10 boaters in the BFL South Carolina Division event on Lake Murray:
7th: Mark Curry of Conway, S.C.,11-11, $743
7th: Fred Moore, Inman, S.C., 11-11, $743
9th: Randy Childers, Anderson, S.C., 11-9, $626

In the Co-angler Division, Clint Jackson of Enoree, S.C., caught four fish weighing 9 pounds, 14 ounces to win $2,348.

Coming up

The next BFL South Carolina Division tournament is scheduled for March 20 at Santee Cooper in Summerton, S.C. Top 50 anglers and 50 co-anglers from each of the five division tournaments will qualify for the South Carolina regional Oct. 14-16 at Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Ala., for a chance to win a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower engine and a Chevy pick-up, respectively.
