Burdett wins BFL event on Kissimmee River

Boater James Burdett of Mulberry, Fla., caught a five-bass limit weighing 26 pounds, 14 ounces Saturday to win $4,763 in the BFL Gator Division tournament on the Kissimmee River.

David Crews of Winter Haven, Fla., weighed five bass for 21-9 to take second place and $2,381 in the Boater Division; in third was Steve Boyd of Orlando, Fla., five bass, 20-9, $1,585; fourth place belonged to Dean Harcourt of Palm Bay, Fla., five bass, 19-5, $1,111; and in fifth was Billy Bowen Jr. of Ocala, Fla., five bass, 18-1, $953.

Rounding out the top 10 boaters in the BFL Gator Division event on the Kissimmee River:
6th: Dave Sheffield, Davie, Fla., 16-5, $873
7th: Darrell Cranor, Lakeland, Fla., 15-9, $794
8th: Gary Simpson, Gainesville, Fla., 14-15, $714
9th: Wayne Loring, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 14-9, $635

Calloway winning co-angler

In the Co-angler Division, Mike Calloway of Titusville, Fla., caught a five-bass limit weighing 15 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to win $2,381.

Coming up

The next BFL Gator Division tournament is scheduled for March 13 at Harris Chain in Tavares, Fla. Top 50 anglers and 50 co-anglers from each of the five division tournaments will qualify for the Gator regional Oct. 21-23 at Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga., for a chance to win a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower engine and a Chevy pick-up, respectively.
