Fans going to the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor expo should make it a point to stop by Kevin VanDam's booth and check out a few of the products he developed and is selling. The coolest is definitely the Spinnerbait Guide. VanDam is probably the best there's been with a spinnerbait, and he created the Guide to help take the guesswork of spinnerbaiting.
It's a heavy-duty, weatherproof card, so you can keep it anywhere in your boat. It selects a spinnerbait based on water temperature, water clarity, forage base and skies. Using that data it recommends a head weight, body profile, blade style and color, as well as skirt color. The card provides two recommendations per condition – one for 10 feet of water or less, the other for 10-feet-plus.
He's also selling the FishStick, which is a scent product that's incredibly powerful. It really smells, and it comes in a stick so it can be used on hardbaits.
His other product is called the Shark Tooth line-management tool. It's a stretch band that fits around a spool of line but lets you neatly strip line off.
