Randy Westmoreland & Dennis Miller Win Cabela's Speckled Trout USA Tournament

Cabela's Speckled Trout USA Tournament Trail held their second event of the year at the Port St. Joe Marina at Port St. Joe Florida. The anglers and the crew were met head on with a stiff 20 MPH to start off the day. As the winds died down the heavy rains started in to make for wet and nasty day of fishing. The rain finally slowed down to a drizzle lasting throughout the weigh in.

Taking first place was the Pensacola, Florida team of Randy Westmoreland and Dennis Miller with a total weight of 12.17 pounds and earning $2,500.00. The team fished the south end of the bay, catching their fish on top water and suspended jigs. The team caught nearly 60 fish for the day and received the .8 pound bonus for bringing in 4 live fish to the scales.

In second place Gary Messick of Panama City, Florida and Chaz Scism of Lynn Haven, Florida weighing in 10.85 pounds and earning $1,200.00. Gary and Chaz were fishing Crooked Island using a chartreuses top water mirror spinner. The team caught 10 fish for the day which included Big Trout of the day at 3.66 pounds and earning a $500.00 gift card from Cabela's. The team also received a 1 pound bonus for bringing all 5 fish in alive to the scales.

Third place went to the Parker, Florida team of Nathan and Daniel Chennaux with a weight of 7.02 pounds and earning $800.00. The team was fishing near Crooked Island using a white flat water mirror lure to catch 16 fish for the day.

Mike Perdue and Jesse Cook of Panama City, Florida weighed in 4.29 pounds to take fourth place and earn a Minn Kota 80 pound thrust trolling motor. The team was fishing near Cook Bayou using a black and silver Yo-Uzuri bait and catching 15 fish for the day. The team received a bonus weight of .2 pound for bringing in 1 live fish to the scales.

In fifth place was Micheal Aman of Perry, Florida and Steve Taylor of Tallahassee, Florida with a weight of 3.62 pounds and earning a new 4 inch jack plate from Bob's Machine Shop for their boat. The team was fishing the south end of the bay using a bone colored top water jig and catching 20 fish for the day.

Taking big Redfish of the event was the Port St. Joe team of Mark Howze and Guerry Magidson with a 5.63 pound Red Fish. The team fished near Pig Island, and caught the big Red Fish on a gold and black mirror lure. The team received $500.00 for big Red Fish of the event.
