Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, today announced veteran cable television creative director, Michael Magnotta, has been named Senior Vice President/Creative Director, a newly created position. Magnotta was previously Vice President and Creative Director at VERSUS, where he worked closely with the network’s former president Gavin Harvey, who is now Sportsman’s CEO.
“Michael brings tremendous experience, insight and creativity to Sportsman. He is one of cable TV's most accomplished creative executives, winning dozens of industry awards for outstanding work ranging from tune-in promos to show opens to network rebrands,” said Harvey. “Michael was an invaluable leader during the extensive and complex process of repositioning, renaming, and rebranding Outdoor Life Network (OLN) to VERSUS. He will make a powerful contribution to our position as the category leader.”
At Sportsman, Magnotta will lead the creative services team to produce a multitude of advertising and promotion tactics reaching millions of outdoor enthusiasts monthly. In this role, he is charged with conceptualizing and creating unique and memorable on-air promos, brand vignettes, interstitials and packaging to engage the network’s current audience and attract new viewers. Jumping on board with one of cable TVs most aggressive marketing programmers, Magnotta will be busy fully utilizing the vast print, digital and database resources of sister company, Intermedia Outdoors.

Magnotta served as Vice president and Creative Director of OLN/VERSUS for six years, beginning his tenure in 2003. During his time at the network, he spearheaded two rebrands and was a key contributor to outdoor sports campaigns, which resulted in record viewership growth. Prior to OLN/VERSUS, Magnotta, served as the creative director for BRAVO and INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL (IFC). Throughout his more than 20-year television career, Magnotta has won more than 50 brand, promotion and design awards in sports and entertainment. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television from the New York University Tisch School of Arts and currently resides in New York City.
