Pinnacle Introduces Tournament Series Rods

Pinnacle's new feather-light, super strong Tournament Class Perfecta™ bass rods feature actions designed by top professional anglers for unsurpassed casting and fish-catching performance. The result of extensive input from BASS Elite Series and FLW touring pros, as well as Pinnacle's proprietary Double Helical Construction (DHC5), this series of 15 custom-quality rods covers a wide range of bass-fishing applications. While Tournament Class Perfecta rods are state-of-the-art when it comes to materials, construction and components, unlike many competitive models, they're priced within reach of the average angler.

"Perfecta rods are professional-grade from tip to butt," said Pinnacle pro staffer Paul Elias, Bassmaster Classic Champion and all-time BASS heavyweight catch record-holder. "I've been using them on the tournament trail, and without a doubt, they're some of the lightest most powerful rods I've ever fished with." Elias, along with fellow pro staffers Dave Wolak, Britt Myers and Grant Goldbeck, worked closely with Pinnacle's research and development team to ensure that the length, taper and action of each rod was ideal for the intended application. "Different angling techniques require tools specialized for those particular jobs," Elias explained. "That's what makes Pinnacle's Tournament Class Perfecta series so great. There's a custom-quality rod available to handle virtually every bass-fishing situation."

The Tournament Class Perfecta family offers anglers a complete selection of trigger-style casting rods, including models designed for fishing crankbaits, worms/jigs, jerkbaits, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater lures, buzzbaits, frogs, Carolina rigs, shaky-head rigs, wacky rigs and more. The series also includes three spinning models, designed for finesse applications. All Perfecta rods can be matched up with Pinnacle's new Tournament Class Optimus™, Performa™ and Producer™ reels to form perfectly matched and balanced fish-catching systems.

Exclusive Double Helical Construction (DHC5) is what allows Pinnacle to make each Perfecta rod so incredibly light and sensitive, without sacrificing power or durability. The process begins with high-density carbon tape wrapped around the length of a mandrel. Next, layers of high-modulus, uni-directional graphite prepreg, without glass scrim, are applied over the initial carbon tape wrap. Normally, eliminating scrim would result in a rod that's too brittle, but that's not the case with Double Helical Construction. Blank strength is reinforced by rolling another layer of high-density carbon tape over the graphite prepreg "core," in the opposite of direction of the first carbon wrap. This unique construction allows Pinnacle to eliminate not only glass scrim, but also much of the resin. For maximum protection against UV damage and cracking, every Perfecta rod also receives a two-part, slow-curing heavy epoxy coating. The end result is a blank that's feather light and sensitive, yet also extremely rugged and powerful.

Pinnacle has equipped its Tournament Class Perfecta rods with only the finest components. Lightweight yet durable Fuji® "New concept" Alconite Guides ensure smooth line flow at all times, while a genuine Fuji ACS or VSS reel seat locks your reel firmly in place. Each Perfecta rod also features premium-grade AAA cork handles, plus a machine-cut aluminum check ring. There's a convenient hook-keeper too, specially designed for ease-of-use with rigged lures.

Pinnacle's Tournament Perfecta Rods range in price from $159.99 to $189.99 (MSRP), and every model is backed up by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
