Bomber's New Herky Jerky Jr. Has Pike and Stripers Shaking in Their Shoes
Bomber’s new Herky Jerky Jr. represents a new direction for pike and striper anglers. The original Herky Jerky was produced for the European pike market and the Jr., a smaller version, is now available in the States.
Looking like an XCalibur Xr50 on steroids, the Herky Jerky Jr. is 5-inches in length and weighs a whopping 1 11/16 inches. It’s a slow-sinking lipless jerkbait designed to dart and glide back and forth when retrieved with quick downward jerks of the rod. But there’s more to the lure than a subsurface walk-the-dog bait. Bomber lure designers worked hard to develop a rattle system within the body that functions on its own when the lure is at rest. The slow-sinking action prompts the lure to wobble back and forth as it descends, causing the lure to emit fish-attracting sound.
This action during the pause creates a lure that can be worked over the tops of shallow grass then killed at the weedline. As the lure sinks along the weed edge it’s slowly wobbling back and forth and emitting sound, driving pike, Northerns and muskies crazy. For striper anglers, the heavy weight and ergonomic shape make it perfect for launching long distances to dam faces or schooling fish, and its versatility allow them to work it various ways depending on the situation.
The Herky Jerky Jr. comes in eight color patterns. MSRP is $9.99.
