Eagle River PMTT Final Results

Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center along with our local PMTT sponsors, (Eagle River Inn & Resort, Eagle Sports Center, Eagle Waters Resort, Bridgewater Inn, Chanticleer Inn, Hiawatha Motor Inn, and Trig's) welcomed 91 teams of professional musky anglers to the Eagle River area over the weekend (June 26 & 27). These teams represented musky anglers from through out the United States and Canada.

The PMTT anglers started on Eagle Lake at 7:00 am on Saturday morning where they were able to fish the 10 lakes on the Eagle River side of the Eagle River Chain for the entire tournament. Fishing hours on Saturday were from 7:00 am - 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm. Fourty-six muskies of 34 inches or greater were registered on Saturday. (This is a new record for the PMTT for the number of fish caught and released for one day.) Twenty-five muskies of 34 inches or greater were registered on Sunday. This two day total of 71 muskies sets a new tournament record for the most muskies caught and released in a two day tournament for the PMTT.

There were 15 teams that placed in the tournament with fish registering at 34" and up to 46". There were also many smaller muskies caught throughout the tournament as well as several muskies going after the bait but not making the bite. "Eagle River continues to be a great musky fishery as shown by the records set for a two day total with only 91 teams participating," remarked Tim Widlacki - President/Tournament Director of the PMTT.

The PMTT tournament is a total catch and release tournament. Fishing conditions for this year's tournament were almost perfect with the light mist of rain on Saturday and plenty of cloud cover on both days of the tournament.
