"I caught my bass early on topwaters and one on a shaky head," Campbell said. "I mostly fished shallow in about two feet of water around scattered grass."

In second, Kip Carter of Loganville landed five bass weighing 14.88 pounds, but a half-pound penalty knocked him back to 14.38 pounds. Still, he earned $1,030.

"I fished a 1/2-ounce jig around shallow blow-downs and had six bites, but they were all good fish," he said.

Drew Hobgood of Sharpsburg finished third with a five-bass bag weighing 13.10 pounds. He anchored that catch with a 6.13-pounder that took Boater Division lunker honors. For the effort, he collected $687 for third, $205 for the big bass and a hefty bonus as the top Triton finisher.

"I caught my fish on a shaky head in about 14 to 18 feet of water," Hobgood said. "We fished both north and south. We did a lot of running. I didn't have a fish until about noon."

In fourth of the boaters, Benjie Cleary of Covington caught a five-bass tournament limit going 13.06 pounds with a 4.84-pound kicker. Matthew West of Hiram landed in fifth with five bass for 12.48 pounds with a 5.21-pounder leading the list.
