McCollough wins BFL Bama event at Lake Martin

Boater L.J. McCollough of Valley, Ala., caught three bass weighing 13 pounds, 10 ounces Sunday to win $3,718 in his first FLW appearance at the BFL Bama Division tournament on Lake Martin.

Larry Barron, Dadeville, Ala., weighed three bass for 11-1 to take second place and $1,859 in the Boater Division; in third was Tim Williams, Opelika, Ala., five bass, 10-11, $1,238; fourth place belonged to Buddy Whitley, Lagrange, Ga., five bass, 10-7, $867; and Chris Cooper, Spruce Pine, Ala., placed fifth with five bass, 9-15, $744.

Rounding out the top 10 boaters in the BFL Bama event on Lake Martin:
6th: Patrick Dobbins, Opelika, Ala., five bass, 9-6, $682
7th: Myles Palmer, Alexander City, Ala., four bass, 9-3, $620
8th: Josh Stracner, Vandiver, Ala., three bass, 8, $558
9th: Larry Gaines, Valparaiso, Fla., two bass, 7-14, $496
10th: Eric Peeler, Calhoun, Ga., four bass, 7-9, $412
10th: Bill Spratlin, Chelsea, Ala., four bass, 7-9, $412

Knowles winning co-angler

In the Co-angler Division, Tarry Knowles of Samson, Ala., caught three bass weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces to win $1,859 in the BFL Bama Division event on Lake Martin.

Coming up

The next BFL Bama Division tournament is scheduled for March 27 at Weiss Lake in Leesburg, Ala. The top 50 anglers and 50 co-anglers from each of the five division tournaments will qualify for the Bama Regional Oct. 21-23 at Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga., and a chance to win a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower engine and a Chevy pick-up, respectively.
