Tennessee Team Takes Pickwick/Wilson Lakes King Kat

August 15th the Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail held a qualifying event on the Pickwick/Wilson Lakes at Sheffield, Alabama, which is also the site for the 2009 Cabela's King Kat Classic to be held October 16th and 17th.

These 126 anglers from 16 different states were competing for cash and prizes along with the chance to qualify for the Grand Daddy of Catfishing, The Cabela's King Kat Classic. As most of you know competitive Catfishing is a growing sport and Cabela's King Kat Trail is growing as well with 4 of the top 6 teams being new to our circuit. Pickwick/Wilson Lakes are always one of the top bodies of water on the trail, but fishing was a little tough for anglers this year, but as always this elite group of anglers will bring in a livewell full of fish at the end of the day.

"The fishing was slower than usual for these top anglers, but as usual some nice fish were brought to the scales", said Tournament Director Tanner Tabor. I would like to thank the Colbert County Tourism and the city of Sheffield for making this event possible. I would also like to thank Foodland for providing hot dogs and drinks, Mike Johnson with the Park and recreation Department along with Brian and Suzanne Hamlin of Tourism for help with the 60 youngsters in the Cabela's Kid's Fishing Rodeo", said Tabor.
