College Bass, the nation's elite collegiate fishing tournament, heads to Lake Tyler in Tyler, Texas Saturday, April 24-Sunday, April 25 making it the second consecutive year that the Lone Star state will host this regional tournament. More than 50 two-person teams representing 23 colleges and universities from across the western region, will fish in a two-day cumulative weight format with a five-fish daily limit to tip the scales for more than $7,000 in scholarship monies.
In-state rivalries will take center stage with 25 collegiate angler teams from nine Texas schools including McLennan Community College, Stephen F. Austin State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas State University, University of North Texas, University of Texas-Arlington and University of Texas-Tyler competing in the 2010 West Super Regional.
"We're excited to bring the College Bass Tour back to Tyler," said Rob Russow, College Bass Host. "We saw some big bags last year with the winning team topping 30 pounds with their two-day total. Tyler is a great place for bass fishing."
The morning launches will take place at daybreak at the Lake Tyler Marina and the daily weigh-ins at Academy Sports + Outdoors (8668 South Broadway Ave.) at 3:15 p.m. CDT. As host city, Tyler will be in the national media spotlight with the morning launches and weigh-ins streamed live on www.CollegeBass.com at and special features from the regional tournaments highlighted on ESPNU in the College Bass National Championship shows airing later this year.

Lake Tyler is the ideal location for the 2010 College Bass anglers; with a canal connecting Lake Tyler East with Lake Tyler West, both lakes have earned a great reputation as consistent largemouth bass fisheries.
Last year, 39 teams contended for the regional title on Lake Palestine with Zach Caudle and Joe Landry from Louisiana State University-Shreveport walking away with the inaugural win by more than four pounds over University of North Texas team Austin Hollowell and Brandon Dickenson.
Celebrating its sixth year, the College Bass National Championship is considered by many to be the calendar's premier collegiate fishing event. Last year's North Carolina State anglers Will White and Chris Wood tipped the scales to claim the 2009 College Bass National Championship crown on the Arkansas River in North Little Rock. More than 220 schools from more than 30 states and Canada participate in hundreds of College Bass sanctioned events each season.
